When you are expecting your little one to come, you might forget to get some things that will be essential for the health and the wellbeing of your toddler. Here are some things that you`ll need to get before the baby comes, from clothing, bath equipment, feeding accessories, to crib and stroller. This list might be helpful to know where to start from:

Clothes

  • 6 undershirts or vests (wide head openings)
  • 4 one-piece pajamas
  • 3 rompers or other dress-up outfits
  • 4-7 socks or booties (shoes are unnecessary until baby walks)
  • 3 baby hats (if it`s summer go for broad-brimmed, if it`s winter soft cap that covers baby`s ears)
  • 2 pairs of scratch mittens, to keep baby from scratching his face
  • 2 cardigans or jackets, more in winter
  • Bunting bag or snowsuit for winter baby
  • Laundry detergent for infants

Feeding:

  • If you are breastfeeding:
  • Pump (electric or manual)
  • Milk storage bags
  • Nursing bra (one size larger than your pregnant bra size)
  • Breast pads (disposable or washable)
  • Nursing pillow
  • Lotion for sore nipples

If you are bottle feeding than you need to get this things:

  • 6 bottles
  • Formula milk
  • Bottle brush
  • Sterilizer
  • Bottle wormer
  • Thermal bottle carrier
  • Burp cloths, bibs (never enough)
  • Muslin squares
  • Soother, pacifier

Crib, cradle or bassinet

  • Slats no more than 2 3/8 inches apart
  • Corner posts no more than 1/16 of an inch above frame
  • No cutouts in headboard or footboard
  • Top rails at least 26 inches above mattress
  • You don’t need to get cushion for the baby, there is possibility of soffocation
  • Firm, flat mattress fit snugly in crib (less than two fingers should fit between mattress and crib)
  • 3 fitted crib sheets
  • 4 soft blankets
  • Sleep sack

Diapering:

  • Changing table
  • Diaper cream or baby ointment (to prevent rush)
  • Unscented baby wipes (causes less irritation)
  • 1 large boxes of disposable newborn-size diapers
